Wildbound is out today. For a while after I finished writing this book, I felt strange, almost uncomfortable, with the idea of anyone reading it other than myself. In many ways, Wildbound still feels very emotional and personal and raw. None of the characters are me, but there are little pieces of me in each of them. Their stories aren’t mine, but many of the ways they learn and grow are lessons I’ve had to learn myself. I wrote it during a time that was difficult both personally and in the world around me, and I left it all on the page.
With some time and distance, however, I’ve come to feel so, so happy this book is out in the world for strangers to pick up. I am immensely proud of this duology and grateful that I get to have it on my shelf forever. While of course I’m very excited for the stories I hope to tell in the future, Forestborn and Wildbound will always be the books I needed to write when I wrote them. They have my heart.
Rora, Helos, Finley, and Wes — my characters and friends. Though the road from start to finish evolved over the years, this is the way I always knew their stories would end.
